Junior Production Company:  3rd-8th Grade

ArtWorks Academy  believes  performing  provides  opportunities  for  growth  and  development. Collaborating with peers to produce a play or musical teaches students the importance of teamwork, while building self-confidence. ArtWorks Academy productions are open to students with varying levels of experience in 3rd-8th grade.  Students in 7th and 8th grade can choose to be in Junior or Senior Production Company.

Each semester this class will rehearse and perform a full-length musical. Students will be instructed in every aspect of the production process. Auditions will be held during the second week of class. All enrolled students will be cast in the production. Each student will have their moment to shine!

Some Saturday rehearsals are required. In addition to the $68.00 monthly tuition, there is also a $100.00 Production Fee per semester, as well as an annual $25 enrollment fee. The Production Fee helps cover the cost of costumes, theatre rental, set, props, etc.  Click here for more details.

Junior Production Company:  3rd-8th Grade

Only enroll in one of the two class times

Classes begin the week of August 28, 2017

Performances will be January 19-21, 2018

Acting and Play Production

This is a primarily performance based class, but we will start by learning the fundamentals of acting and audition technique.  Students will apply their knowledge as they audition for our spring play, Fairy Tale Courtroom. All students enrolled in the class will be cast in the play. After auditions and casting have concluded, all students will begin to gain the powerful hands on experience of producing a play.  Rehearsals will be held during their normal class time, with the possibility of a few extra rehearsals being called the weeks leading up to the play.

Fairy Tale Courtroom is a straight play and NOT a musical.

Section 1: Tuesdays from 1:00-2:30 pm (for 8-18 year old homeschool students)

Section 2: Saturdays from 10:00 am-11:30 pm (for 4th-12th grade students)

Performances for Fairy Tale Courtroom will be April 27-29, 2018.  In addition to the monthly tuition, there is a one time $55 Production Fee, which is due by January 31, 2018.  This fee helps cover the cost of the royalties, theatre rental, costumes, etc.  Parents will receive two free tickets to the play per child enrolled (two total NOT two per show).  Additional tickets can be purchased for $8 each.

Teacher approval is not required

Improvisational Acting: 4th-12th grade

Students will learn the principals, techniques and theories involved in the spontaneity of improvisational acting. By focusing on specifics, such as relationship, environment and action, students will be better equipped to handle cold readings as well as the unpredictable nature of live theatre. In addition, students will learn to infuse a scene with their character’s personality, both physically and emotionally.

Teacher approval is not required

Scenic Painting and Props: 3rd-8th grade (evening) OR 8-18 year olds (daytime)

Students will learn various scenic painting techniques and gain an understanding of theatrical prop construction and decoration.  Students will apply the skills learned to individual and group projects focused on the creation of sets and props for our musicals and plays.

Teacher approval is not required

Private Voice Lessons: 10-18 year olds

ArtWorks Academy offers private voice lessons for students 10-18 years old. Lessons are ½ hour per week. Students will receive instruction on vocal production and placement, breathing techniques, diction, tone and ear training. Students will study vocal anatomy, including the respiratory muscles, the larynx and throat structures, and how they affect singing. Instruction will also be given in music theory and performance skills. Age appropriate music will be assigned to each student.

PLEASE NOTE: We are in the process of setting times for the 2017-2018 private lessons.  Once that is all finalized, please look for the tab labeled, "2017-2018 Private Lessons" after you set up your account.  Lesson times in 'green' are avaialbe.  Lesson times in 'red' have already been taken.  If they are full, you can sign up under one that is taken to be placed on a waiting list and we will contact you if a time opens up or if one of our teachers is able to teach on another day.
