2018-2019 Music and Theatre Classes for 3rd-8th Grade

Classes begin the week of August 27, 2018

Junior Production Company:  3rd-8th Grade

ArtWorks Academy  believes  performing  provides  opportunities  for  growth  and  development. Collaborating with peers to produce a play or musical teaches students the importance of teamwork, while building self-confidence. ArtWorks Academy productions are open to students with varying levels of experience in 3rd-8th grade.  Students in 7th and 8th grade can choose to be in Junior or Senior Production Company.

Each semester this class will rehearse and perform a full-length musical. Students will be instructed in every aspect of the production process. Auditions will be held during the second week of class. All enrolled students will be cast in the production. Each student will have their moment to shine!

Some Saturday rehearsals are required. In addition to the $68.00 monthly tuition, there is also a $100.00 Production Fee per semester, as well as an annual $25 enrollment fee. The Production Fee helps cover the cost of costumes, theatre rental, set, props, etc.  Click here for more details.

Acting and Play Production: 5th-12th grade*

This is primarily a performance based class, but we will start by learning the fundamentals of acting and audition technique.  Students will apply their knowledge as they audition for our spring play, The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood. All students enrolled in the class will be cast in the play. After auditions and casting have concluded, all students will begin to gain the powerful hands on experience of producing a play.  Rehearsals will be held during their normal class time, with the possibility of a few extra rehearsals being called the weeks leading up to the play.

The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood is a straight play and NOT a musical.

Performances for The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood will be April 26-28, 2019 at Randall University in Moore.  In addition to the monthly tuition, there is a one time $55 Production Fee, which is due by January 15, 2019.  This fee helps cover the cost of the royalties, theatre rental, costumes, etc.  Parents will receive two free tickets to the play per child enrolled (two total NOT two per show).  Additional tickets can be purchased for $8 each.

*This class is for 5th-12th grade, but the Homeschool section is open to 8-18 year olds.

Teacher approval is not required

Music Through the Decades: 4th-8th grade

Who doesn’t love music?  It impacts us all in different ways.  The music kids love today is different than the music their parents or grandparents grew up listening to.   In this class, students will learn how music has evolved over time and the impact it has had on society, as they learn lots of fun songs we have all grown to love!

The class will culminate in a performance for parents in May.

Teacher approval is not required.
