Senior Production Company: 7th-12th Grade
Hello, Dolly!
Senior Production Company - Monday from 6:15-8:45 pm
Classes begin February 1, 2021
Performances will be June 18-20, 2021
ArtWorks Academy believes performing provides opportunities for growth and development. Collaborating with peers to produce a play or musical teaches students the importance of teamwork, while building self-confidence. ArtWorks Academy productions are open to students with varying levels of experience in 7th-12th grade.
Each semester this class will rehearse and perform a full-length musical. Students will be instructed in every aspect of the production process. Auditions will be held during the second week of class. All enrolled students will be cast in the production. Each student will have their moment to shine!
Some Saturday rehearsals are required. In addition to the $99.00 monthly tuition, there is also a $100.00 Production Fee per semester, as well as an annual $25 enrollment fee. The Production Fee helps cover the cost of costumes, theatre rental, set, props, etc. Click here for more details.

Acting and Play Production: 5th-12th grade
This is primarily a performance based class, but we will start by learning the fundamentals of acting and audition technique. Students will apply their knowledge as they audition for our spring play, You Can't Take It With You. All students enrolled in the class will be cast in the play. After auditions and casting have concluded, all students will begin to gain the powerful hands on experience of producing a play. Rehearsals will be held during their normal class time, with the possibility of a few extra rehearsals being called the weeks leading up to the play.
You Can't Take It With You is a straight play and NOT a musical.
"At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. The plot shows how Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by the Kirbys, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. The Sycamores, however, though sympathetic to Alice, find it hard to realize her point of view. Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up, and in the end Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores, particularly since he happens in during a visit by an ex-Grand Duchess, earning her living as a waitress. No mention has as yet been made of the strange activities of certain members of the household engaged in the manufacture of fireworks; nor of the printing press set up in the parlor; nor of Rheba the maid and her friend Donald; nor of Grandpa’s interview with the tax collector when he tells him he doesn’t believe in the income tax." (from dramatists.com)
Performances for You Can't Take It With You will be April 23-25, 2021. In addition to the monthly tuition, there is a one time $55 Production Fee, which is due by January 15, 2021. This fee helps cover the cost of the royalties, set, costumes, etc. Parents will receive two free tickets to the play per child enrolled (two total NOT two per show). Additional tickets can be purchased for $10 each.
