Modern Dance Master Class with Perpetual Motion:  7th-12th grade

 

From the Perpetual Motion website, "Perpetual Motion Dance is a modern and aerial dance company based in Oklahoma City with a mission to “create, develop and inspire innovative dance.” They blend post modern and aerial dance techniques with a signature grace and technical ingenuity to create dance on all planes.  Perpetual Motion Dance is in their 15th season of creating annual original concerts in addition to regional and national touring.  In addition to presenting original concerts and tours, Perpetual Motion Dance is committed to educating both adults and youth through classes, workshops, and residencies. In August 2006, Perpetual Motion organized the first annual Oklahoma Contemporary Dance Festival, which brings together regional choreographers with performers of all ages and backgrounds."

 

Dates: Saturday, July 8 from 2:00-4:00 pm

Classical Vocal Techniques Master Class with Darin and Aubrey Chapin:  7th-12th grade

 

Students should come prepared with a classical vocal selection, such as an art song, or a song from a classic musical (i.e. Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Gershwin).  Mr. and Mrs. Chapin will work with students on vocal technique and performance skills. This hands on master class is a perfect way for students to learn, both while working with the Chapins and while watching them work with their peers.

Hip Hop and Musical Theatre Dance Master Class with Hui Cha Poos:  7th-12th grade

 

Join us for a fantastic dance master class in hip hop and musical theatre dance, taught by Hui Cha Poos!

 

Hui Cha Poos has been teaching and sharing her love of dance with students for over 20 years.  She is currently an Instructor of Dance and serves as head of the Jazz Department at the University of Central Oklahoma.  Hui recently earned a Masters Degree in Secondary Education from UCO and was the recipient of the John C. Westerman Award.  Her experience with musical theatre began in Oklahoma at Lyric with such shows as A Chorus Line and Peter Pan.  She worked in Los Angeles and was seen in feature films such as Batman & Robin and Happy Texas.  Her experience on stage includes being Micky & Minnie Mouse for several Disney premiers, being featured in a show with the Russian Imperial Circus, and sharing the stage with stars like Sandy Duncan, Ed Harris, and Smokey Robinson, Paul McCartney & Busta Rhymes.  Some video credits include Monifa, Candyman and choreography for Brian Mcknight. She has choreographed for OKC Thunder Girls, Pollard Theatre, OKC Philharmonic, OKC Summer Stock and many others. Hui co-founded Oklahoma Dance Alliance, OKLA Dance Connection, Groove Street Productions and is the creator/ director of Race Dance Company, the first Jazz/Hip Hop Dance Company in Oklahoma.  Her hard work and dedication earned her the Vanderford Initiative Award given by President Betz of UCO.

Improv Acting Master Class with Greg Castle:  7th-12th grade

 

Improv is all about listening, building off of ideas and collaborating to create memorable scenes. In this master class, we'll cover the fundamental skills of improvisation to bring fun characters to life and do good scene work based on shared experience. With high energy exercises and lots of laughs, we will learn how to take risks and make something great out of nothing.

 

Greg Castle has been teaching and performing improv for over 10 years. He was trained at iO West in Los Angeles and performed on numerous stages in LA, Chicago, Dallas and New York. Greg taught workshops at the Dallas Comedy Festival and the LA Comedy Festival, and he was a popular coach in demand in California. He was a writer/performer/producer for a comedy group called Rigor Tortoise, which was formed 10 years ago with guys he met while taking classes at iO. Rigor Tortoise produced over 75 filmed sketches that have been featured all over the internet. Greg's goal in teaching improv is to get you to have as much fun as possible on stage by instilling confidence in the skills that make you unique.  Greg lives in Edmond with his lovely wife and their two awesome sons.
