Production Company was founded in 2007 when we opened our doors. This company is for 3rd-12th grade students. Members produce a musical each semester. We have seen so many of our students grow and develop as members of this company. We have had students who can barely be heard at their first audition, playing leads a year or two later.
There are four sections of Production Company:
Junior Production Company
Monday from 4:45-6:15 pm
Tuesday from 5:00-6:30 pm
Wednesday from 6:00-7:30 pm
Senior Production Company
Monday from 6:15-8:45 pm
Junior Production Company is $68 per month and Senior Production Company is $99 per month, both have a $100 Production Fee per semester to help cover the costs of the costumes, theatre rental, royalties, etc. Students audition for role assignment only. Every child who wants to be in Production Company gets cast in the shows!
As our musical theatre program has grown over the years, we have received many questions. Here are three we feel are important to address:
Do you cast every student who auditions? Absolutely! We believe the best way to learn is by doing. Every student deserves a chance to receive the same training, no matter their previous experience. It is our delight to cast every student. As our musical theatre program continues to grow, we will adjust our classes to accommodate all students who wish to participate.
What will my child learn? Your child will learn about all aspects of musical theatre. They will gain a solid technique, with an emphasis on performing. Students will develop their skills in the areas of singing, dancing and acting. Each semester students have the opportunity to take a master class with a cast member of a touring production. In the past, we have had teachers from Mamma Mia!, Disney's The Lion King, Legally Blonde, The Wizard of Oz and Shrek the Musical!
How do you select your musicals? Each semester the faculty at ArtWorks Academy strives to choose a production that will challenge our students, not only to learn new skills and improve upon others, but also to learn about different styles and aspects of theatre. We also seek to select material that our students will enjoy performing and parents feel is appropriate for their children.
