Please make sure you read the policies applicable to all students as well as those specific to musical theatre students, which are as follows:

Beginning Musical Theatre (K-2nd grade) Policies

Production Fee

Beginning Musical Theatre students will perform in the productions with our Production Company members. Students will be called for a couple of Saturday rehearsals with our older students and will be required to attend all rehearsals during Production Week.

Students enrolling in this class will be charged a Production Fee each semester. This fee helps cover the cost of theatre rental, costumes, set, props, equipment rental, etc. The Production Fee is $55.00. The payment is divided into two installments of $27.50. The payment due dates are as follows:

Fall 2017: September 20 (1st payment) and October 18 (2nd payment)

Spring 2018:  February 21 (1st payment) and March 14 (2nd payment)

Prior to the performance, each family will receive a production packet with specific information about the production including dress rehearsal times, call times, and costume care.

Class Attire

Students should wear clothes that allow for ease of movement. Girls should not wear skirts or dresses. Street shoes MAY NOT be worn on the dance floor. Girls should wear black ballet shoes and boys should wear black dress or jazz shoes.

Tickets for the production are $8-$12 each. Each semester families will receive two free tickets per student enrolled (two total – NOT two per performance).

Production Company (3rd-12th grade) Policies

Tuition

Tuition  for  Production Company is $68 per month (3rd-7th grade)  OR  $99 per month (7th-12th grade).  Discounts are given if students take multiple classes.  For example, students enrolled in Production Company (7th-12th grade) and two 1-hour Senior Level dance classes will pay $146.00 per month.  This is based on the students enrolling in four and a half hours of class per week.  Four and half hours of class would cost much more than that, without the discount.  For more information on how our tuition is determined, visit the main tuition and policies page.

Fall 2017: September 20 (1st payment) and October 18 (2nd payment)

Spring 2018:  February 21 (1st payment) and March 14 (2nd payment)

Tickets for the production are $8-$12 each. Each semester families will receive two free tickets per student enrolled (two total – NOT two per performance).

Attendance Policy

Attendance to all classes and rehearsals is imperative. All students, whether a leading role or ensemble, are an integral part of the show. If a student misses a rehearsal it affects the entire cast. Each student will be required to fill out a conflict calendar before auditioning. We plan our casting and rehearsals around foreseeable conflicts. Any absences not given to us prior to auditions, will be subject to approval. We understand that illness and conflicts will arise.  We will try to be as understanding and accommodating as possible.

Students missing more than 3 classes or Saturday rehearsals per semester will not be allowed to participate in the production unless private lessons (at the rate of $25 per half hour) are arranged with the instructor. This is to ensure that everyone is prepared for the performance.

Class Attire

Students should wear clothes that allow for ease of movement. Girls should not wear skirts or dresses. Street shoes MAY NOT be worn on the dance floor. Required shoes will be dependent upon the production:

Production Company GIRLS (3rd-7th grade): Tan Grecian Sandals

Production Company GIRLS (7th-12th grade): Tan Character Heels

Production Company BOYS (3rd-12th grade): Black jazz shoes or dress/character shoes (depending upon show)

Auditions

Everyone who enrolls in a Production Company class will be cast  in the show.  Each student must audition for roles.  Auditions are held during the second or third week of class (depending upon the semester) and Junior Production Company students are asked to prepare one song for auditions.  Senior Production Company will also be required to prepare two songs of contrasting styles.  Songs should be around 32 bars (or less than one minute). Songs should also reflect the style of the show for which the student is auditioning. An accompanist will be provided for the audition. Each student should bring sheet music with the starting point and the ending point clearly marked.  Students may NOT use a CD and must audition with the accompanist provided.

During the first class of the semester, students will learn about the audition process and will be taught the dance they will use for their audition. Junior Production Company students will also learn a portion of a song, which they are welcome to sing for their audition, if this is their first or second semester in Junior Production Company. They will also be given an audition form and conflict calendar, which should be filled out and brought back with them to auditions.

The first day of auditions will consist of students singing their selected song(s) as well as dancing. If time allows, we will begin singing and reading for roles.  All students need to bring a resume to auditions and dress nicely for the audition.  We will discuss these things on the first day of class and send a sample resume home.

During the second day of auditions, we will continue to sing and read for roles. We will not be able to read and sing every student for every role. If a student is not asked to read for a specific role for which they would like to be considered, they are welcome to ask the director to read and sing for the role before they leave.

Saturday Rehearsals

Additional rehearsals are required outside of the normal class time. Students are called for a maximum of six to eight Saturday rehearsals during the semester, depending upon which show they are in.  These rehearsals are required and any conflicts should be listed on the conflict calendar.  Specific rehearsal times and cast members called will be announced closer to each date.
